It’s been a while since I’ve written here. And while I may get to that in the future, for now I have to ask this question: Is the love of God enough for you? I ask this because for years I thought the answer to that question was, yes. I based my answer on circumstance. I replaced the love of God with people who loved God – or at least I thought did – or intended to. Good intentions are not evidence of truth though. This love ought to bring us worth. His love doesn’t change in circumstances and isn’t solely displayed through others.
It’s easy to say your worth in Christ is enough when you have family, friends, coworkers and church goers that find worth in you. But strip their opinions away and what are you left with? Is that love enough for you? What happens when something you know in your heart is God honoring, but others completely disagree with you, do you shy away from doing it? Yes, some people will have the audacity to think their opinion shapes the will of God. They’ll tell you what church to go to, who to love, what to wear, who to be, and hide behind misquoted scripture and vain opinion and will be the loudest voice in the room.
So what then? When it’s just you, Jesus and no body else – is it enough? Or are you grasping for more? Becoming more angry by the minute, more depressed as the days roll on, longing for more. Is Jesus truly enough? Or are you staying up late, struggling to get out of bed in the morning because at the end of the day, nobody cares? These defeated emotions are normal. You’re not crazy and no, there’s nothing wrong with you. But know this: God is crazy about you. He loved you so much, He created you in HIS image. He wanted you to be unique and one of a kind so it’s evidence of His divine intervention if you aren’t like everyone else. But more than your image, He loves your very soul. Jesus faced the most incredible, most gruesome death, because He loves you. He resurrected and is alive today all because He loves you.
In those moments where you feel defeated, trust me, it’s your perspective, it’s not the truth. Satan knows the weight of the love of God. He knows what it can do to a person and the life changing abilities His love contains. That if you obtain it, you have the ability to change the world. His love is enough. Things will come and go. Jobs, friends, relationships; everything can be here one minute and gone the next. But the one guaranteed constant you have is the love of God. Hold onto that. I have and it’s why I’m still here. Until next time, thank you for reading and may you never forget how much He loves you.
